DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is a service that allows machines to get their IP addresses and other information assigned by the network themselves rather than having to have this done manually by a person.

This tool allows you to enter information about a campus network and find the name of the network administrator.
Network Operations Center
The Network Operations Center (NOC) houses a team of network specialists who monitor networks, including U-M backbones and departmental LANs, and provide first-level troubleshooting for customers' networks 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
UM Wireless Network
UM Wireless Network is a wireless local area network (WiFi) available to all who have a valid University of Michigan uniqname and umich password. See UM Wireless Network's network administration information.
U-M Virtual Private Network (VPN)
The U-M VPN is available to all University of Michigan students, faculty, and staff who have a valid U-M uniqname and umich password. It provides an encrypted VPN for all network computing needs.
UMnet Administration
The mission of UMnet Administration is to support the network administrators at the University of Michigan, coordinate the networking infrastructure and network numbers on campus, and maintain the UMnet Backbone and UM Backbone Interconnect Network (UMBIN) infrastructures.
