U-M IT Resources
There are many computing and IT resources on campus besides ITCS. This list may not be all-inclusive; check with your department, school, college, or unit to see if other information technology resources are available to you.
If you are a U-M IT service provider and would like to be included on this page, please send us your URL and a brief description.
Campuswide Services
- Administrative Computing
- Data Recovery, Out-of-Warranty Laptop Repair, and Poster Printing services
The Cell and Developmental Biology Department makes its data recovery and poster printing services available to everyone - not just UM folks - employees, students, staff, friends, etc.
- Duderstatdt Center Computing Resources
Provides computing resources to facilitate bringing together the creative aspects of all campus
disciplines, ranging from art, architecture, and music, to medicine, engineering, and the
humanities.
- Information Technology Services (Dearborn
campus)
Dearborn-ITS manages the campuswide network, e-mail and calendar system, web services, Banner
student information system, and user support for staff and faculty.
- Information Technology Services (Flint
campus)
Flint-ITS provides data and information management, desktop computer services, mediated classroom
services, network systems support, user services support, and web and instructional technology
services.
- Michigan Administrative Information Services
(MAIS)
Provides support for U-M administrative information systems and processes, including
M-Pathways.
- ResComp
Provides access to high-speed computing for University Housing (Ann Arbor) residents.
Education, Training, and Research
- Center for Research on Learning and Teaching (CRLT)
In addition to other services, CRLT provides consultation services to individuals and departments on
the integration of technology into teaching, including distance education.
- Center for Statistical Consultation and Research
(CSCAR)
Statistical services, including help with statistical software, for faculty, primary researchers,
graduate students, and staff of the University.
- Center for Information Technology Integration (CITI)
Engages in advanced development and research projects, in partnership with external sponsors, that
will enhance the University of Michigan's information technology environment; and transfers the
results to industry, government, and education.
- Collaboratory for Advanced Research and Academic Technologies
(CARAT)
Enables diverse disciplines at U-M to join forces and participate in cutting-edge research and
educational projects involving advanced networking and computing technologies.
- Environmental Spatial Analysis Laboratory
Core technologies include geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, and quantitative
spatial analysis (i.e., spatial statistics and geostatistics).
- Faculty Exploratory
Services for faculty who are interested in using technology to enhance their lecturing, research,
and publishing skills.
- Internet2 at U-M
U-M is connected to Internet2, a significant advance in networking capability for the research and
education community.

- Knowledge Navigation Center
Facilities, expertise, and encouragement for U-M faculty, staff, and students who wish to explore,
evaluate, and apply innovative information technologies to scholarly endeavors.
- Merit Network
A nonprofit corporation that promotes computer networking in Michigan and beyond.
U-M is a charter
member of Merit.
- Learning Resource Center
A Medical Center resource for faculty and students interested in exploring, developing, and
accessing computer-based technologies and programming.
- Teaching and Technology Collaborative (TTC)
Helps faculty connect with services and resources that support their teaching.
- UM.CourseTools
A customizable, web-based classroom assistance tool designed by University of Michigan instructors,
instructional designers, and software developers.
- UM.SiteMaker
A template-driven system for creation and maintenance of public or private web sites.
